In June 1862, on this felt-topped walnut game table, Sam Sloan, President of the Hudson River Railroad; Harry Belcher, owner of the Garrison/West Point Ferry; and General Scott, retired General of the U.S. Army played cards (poker?) while awaiting the arrival of President Abraham Lincoln at Garrison Landing. After conferring with General Scott at West Point the President visited the West Point Foundry in Cold Spring the next day.The President observed the proving of one of the Parrott Rifled Cannons and was then wined and dined by Gouverneur Kemble, owner of the Foundry, and Robert P. Parrott, General Superintendent, at Parrott's home using the blue and white china displayed in the Pope Gallery.
